About the Covered Cauldron
About The Covered Cauldron
✨ Welcome. We're so glad you found us.
Some places are built around products.
We wanted to build ours around people.
After years of long hours, busy schedules, and helping build someone else's dream, we found ourselves longing for something different.
George spent decades turning wrenches, solving problems, and bringing machines back to life. I spent years in professional kitchens before moving into communications and nonprofit work. We loved the work we did, but we wanted more time for the people who matter most.
We wanted slower mornings. ☕
More family dinners. 🍞
More afternoons spent creating together.
More laughter around the table.
More memories with Gran, our granddaughter Mira, and our growing family as we look forward to welcoming another precious grandchild.
We wanted to build something that reflected the life we hoped to live... one centered on family, creativity, kindness, and sharing the gifts we've each been given.
That's how The Covered Cauldron came to be.
It isn't just a bakery.
It isn't just a mercantile.
It's our family's way of building a life together... one loaf, one treasure, one story, and one handmade creation at a time.
🏡 Every one of us has a place here.
🧶 Gran has always been right beside me. She's my mom, my closest friend, and one of the strongest women I've ever known. Her beautiful handmade afghans are crocheted one careful stitch at a time, carrying with them decades of patience, skill, and love. Every blanket is unique, just like the hands that created it.
🌻 Katie, my bonus daughter and Mira's mom, made one of the biggest leaps of faith of all. After years in restaurant management, she chose to leave her career and help build this dream with us full time. She's my right arm in more ways than I can count... organizing, welcoming visitors at our yard sales and community events, lending a hand wherever it's needed, and somehow keeping all of us moving forward. You'll often find her and Pop heading out on another treasure hunt together, whether they're visiting estate sales or making one of their famous dump runs in search of forgotten treasures. She has a warm Southern accent, a lifelong love of Harry Potter, and a heart that's even bigger than her mighty five-foot frame.
🌼 Mira reminds us to slow down, ask questions, notice the little things, and find joy in everyday moments. She inspires more than she probably realizes, and one day she'll know this little shop was built with her future in mind.
🔧 George, or Pop as our grandchildren know him, has spent a lifetime fixing things. Whether it's an old engine, a forgotten treasure, or something everyone else has given up on, he sees possibility where others see junk. He has an incredible eye for antiques and collectibles, loves bringing broken things back to life, and rarely comes home from an adventure empty-handed.
🍞 As for me, I've always believed food has a way of bringing people together. I love baking, cooking, designing, creating artwork, writing stories, and dreaming about what's next. Whether I'm developing a new recipe, designing apparel, sketching stained glass patterns, creating something new for the shop, or imagining another adventure for our children's books, I love making things that bring people together and make them smile.
One dream especially close to our hearts is creating meaningful work for the people we love. We believe everyone has gifts worth sharing. Sometimes all they need is the right place to let those gifts shine.
That place is The Covered Cauldron.
Here you'll find fresh bread cooling on the counter... 🍞
Vintage treasures waiting for another chapter... 🏺
Handmade creations crafted with care... 🎨
Beautiful afghans folded by the hearth... 🧶
Stories waiting to be opened... 📚
And four beloved familiars making sure no one ever feels alone. 🐾
🐾 Harry, Pickles, Rainbow, and Kallie Mae are our faithful companions, enthusiastic greeters, crumb inspectors, package supervisors, and constant reminders that a house is happiest when it's shared with animals who believe they're in charge.
Everything you'll find here has been imagined, designed, baked, crafted, repaired, rescued, written, or carefully chosen by someone in our family. From the artwork on our apparel to the recipes in our kitchen, every creation begins with an idea and is brought to life with care.
We believe beautiful things deserve to be made with care.
Old treasures deserve another chance.
Stories deserve to be shared.
And home isn't just a place...
It's a feeling.
Whether you've come for a warm loaf of sourdough, one of Gran's handmade afghans, a rescued treasure, a thoughtfully designed gift, or simply to wander through our little shop, we're honored you've stopped by.
So come in. 🤎
Take your time.
Look in every corner.
Pour yourself a cup of coffee. ☕
Visit with us awhile.
There's always another story waiting to be discovered.
From our family to yours,
🤎 Melinda, George (Pop), Gran, Katie, Mira, Harry, Pickles, Rainbow & Kallie Mae
